Architects and interior designers are judged on detail, and clients notice it in small places: the weight of the proposal, the cover of the handover folder, the mark in the corner. A raised studio seal is one of those small places.
Where a studio seal fits
- Proposals and concept books. The seal on the cover sheet signals a considered studio.
- Presentation sheets and mood boards get a seal in a lower corner.
- Handover folders at the end of a project feel like an event, not an envelope.
- Thank-you notes to clients and contractors carry the studio mark.
- Housewarming gifts from the studio. Many designers give the client a gift at handover, and an embosser with the family name or the home name is one people keep.
What it does not replace
Architects work with their Council of Architecture registration and with the stamp or format that the sanctioning authority asks for. The embosser is a studio identity mark and does not replace either. Use it on the documents that carry your brand.
Designing a studio mark
- Studio name in an arc with a simple geometric mark in the centre.
- Your logo in a single colour. Clean geometric logos emboss beautifully.
- Founder's monogram for a small studio.
For presentation sheets on heavier paper, emboss a gold or silver seal card (20 for ₹299) and stick it where you want it. It reads as a deliberate detail.
The studio paper that clients keep
Architects and interior designers produce a stack of paper that clients actually keep: the concept book, the material samples card, the signed proposal, the handover folder. Those are the pieces they show their families and the next contractor. A seal on them marks your studio on everything the client holds on to.
Plate layouts for studios
- Studio seal. Studio name in the top arc, city or year in the bottom arc, a simple geometric mark in the centre.
- Founder's seal. Your initials as a monogram in a ring.
- Project seal. A one-off plate with the project or house name for a signature project. This doubles as a handover gift for the client.
- Library seal. For the studio's reference books and material library.
Ideas that clients notice
- Emboss the cover of the handover folder instead of printing a logo on it.
- Send a thank-you note to the contractor and the site team with the seal on it.
- Emboss a gold seal card and stick it on the first page of the proposal.
- Give the client a personalised embosser with the family name or house name as a housewarming gift.
Mistakes to avoid
- Over-detailed logos. Clean geometric marks press best.
- Embossing on glossy or coated stock. It does not hold relief well. Use uncoated paper or a seal card.
- Confusing the studio mark with the statutory stamp. Registration numbers and the authority's formats stay as they are.
40 mm or 50 mm: which size
| Size | Price | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 40 mm | ₹1,669 | A name or short firm name in an arc, one small mark in the centre |
| 50 mm | ₹2,869 | Longer names, a registration or enrolment number, finer logo detail |
| Gold seal cards, set of 20 | ₹299 | A gold finish, or sealing paper that is too thick to emboss directly |
As a rule of thumb, count the characters you want on the plate. Up to about twenty fits 40 mm comfortably. Beyond that, choose 50 mm.

Common questions
Can I emboss on cartridge sheets?
Cartridge up to about 180 gsm works. Heavier boards are better with a seal card.
Can I order a client gift with a family name?
Yes. A personalised embosser with the family name or home name is a popular handover gift. See the embosser gift guide.
Can the studio logo be used as is?
Send it in one colour. Very thin lines get thickened so the plate holds them.
Can I emboss on drawing sheets?
Thin drawing sheets work. For thick presentation board, emboss a seal card and stick it on.
Can I order a plate with a client's house name?
Yes. Use the Impressa embosser and write the name in the text field. See our embosser gift guide for ideas.
Will my logo work as it is?
Send it in one colour. Fine lines get thickened so the plate holds them.
